Yes, we’ve all heard the wonderful little phrase about making assumptions that help us remember how to spell it.

However, that little phrase is actually a big lie that we’ve been told.  And it’s one that can cause serious problems if we’re not careful, especially in our coaching.  So enjoy this little video (I’ll assume you have about 6 minutes to spare) and see how this little shift and adjustment can actually help your coaching grow stronger–quickly and easily.  (At least, I’m assuming that it will.)

Let’s face it, as much as we enjoy what we do, there are sometimes just those clients that we find to be a bit more of a challenge.  Perhaps they hold different beliefs than we do, or maybe they have certain behaviors, or maybe we’re just tired of their habits.

But the moment we are unable to find something about the client that we enjoy, then the coaching will come to a screeching halt.

BeDo Bits Video #2: Trouncing the 10,000 Myth

Yes, I know they say it takes 10,000 hours to be a master at something. But let’s be honest. That’s really a myth. And while it sounds impressive, I challenge that it’s actually not only wrong, but causes problems in our coaching development and growth. So view on and enjoy, learn and grow your coaching.

What happened on the last Fast Pass? (Beliefs)

This last class we focused all on the world of “Beliefs”.

Another way of looking it at it is “perspectives”, “points of view”, or the ever popular, “truth”.

We’ll hear things like, “It’s always this way” or “I never get this” and our clients have already predicted the outcome of whatever it is they are trying to attempt.

What’s happening is that there is a Belief that is running the show, commanding the actions, and controlling the outcome—before it even happens.

So what do you do?

Well, before you say ,”Get rid of that belief,” I’m here to tell you it ain’t that easy.  After all, our Beliefs are sacred.  We hold them dearly and will fight to defend them—even the ones that are causing us pain.  “How many times have you heard a client actually start to protect their negative Belief?  How many times have you had a client actually start to battle you—even though you’re trying to point them in the right direction and give them what they’re actually asking for?

All too common.

So what do you do?

Well, I have to say, that is what we explored in this last lesson.

  • We learned how to identify various Beliefs that are operating and running our client.
  • We discovered how to spot clues that will provide us with valuable information.
  • We explored all the amazing and powerful ways that can work with our clients to strengthen the positive Beliefs ,and find new Beliefs to replace the old ones. And how to do it all powerfully.
  • And every coach in the class discovered that they already have tons of tools at their access that can easily apply in this context for amazing impact and results.

Well, I think I’ve gone and done it, gang. I’ve FINALLY started creating my own video series.
Nothing too crazy. Just little 5 minute bursts of coaching insight and wisdom to help you grow your coaching.
And here’s the first one, all about breaking the MYTH of Setting the AGENDA.
I hope you like it.

A win is a WIN

Yes.  I know it’s easy to spot all the things that didn’t happen.

All the stuff that you failed to accomplish, that didn’t happen, that still is on your massive and ever-growing, never-shrinking to do list is blaring, practically drowning out any and everything else.

And I’m not going to sit here and tell you the same old stuff, “just focus on the good” or “be grateful for what you have” and all that silver-lining stuff.

But what I am going to challenge you to do is–just for this moment–set that list aside.  Just slide it off for the moment (don’t worry, you can get back to all your overwhelm and unaccomplishments and deficiencies and not-enoughs whhen we’re done).

Notice what DID happen.  What did get accomplished?  Even if it’s not the full goal, what part of it has actually been completed?  What is, however small, a success?

(Now, i know that you want to instantly evaluate it and judge it against what is supposed to happen.  And I can already promise you, when you do that, this win will be a worthless piece of nothing.   And, as i said, you can do that in just a minute.  But for now, just place a hold on that urge and let the success, however small be there.)

Ok.  Now I promised you that this was not going to be a “gratitude” thing or a “silver-lining” or any other quick fix.

Instead i want you to notice that your big goal is actually comprised of several little goals.

For example, in order to run a marathon, which is 26 miles, the only way–and I mean the ONLY way–I’m going to accomplish that is if I run one mile first.  If I don’t run that first mile, then I’m sure as salamander salami not going to accomplish my second.  In fact, it’s IMPOSSIBLE!

Do you get that?

In order to succeed in the BIG stuff, you’re going to have to succeed in the little stuff to get there.

Now the problem, as I’m sure you see, is when we allow that little win to be enough.  Nosireebob.  That’s not what I’m saying at all.

OF COURSE, keep going.

OF COURSE, there’s more.

But use this little win to inspire you, motivate you and be proof that you can accomplish what you set out to.  It’s just that, typically, little wins require less time and energy to fulfill than big ones.  But a win is a win.

And really, if we look at it, whether it’s a WIN or a win, it’s spelled the same way.
